How does laser hair removal work?

The laser therapist will adjust the machine settings to your skin and hair type, then use the equipment hand piece on the area where the hair needs to be removed. Once the laser light passes through skin it heats the hair follicle damaging it to inhibit hair growth.

When is the best time to start a laser hair reduction treatment?

The best time to get started with your hair removal sessions is when you have spent at least 4 weeks out of the sun. You cannot start medical laser hair removal sessions if your skin is sunburned or tanned.

Can I start the laser sessions right after waxing?

Doing laser soon after you have done waxing is not going to deliver results. You should wait for your hair to grow back first then instead of waxing you should just shave the hair. The best time to shave is 24 to 48 hours before each session.

What happens in my first free consultation?

Your laser therapist will analyse your skin and do a patch test to make sure it is safe for you to have laser hair removal sessions.

How many sessions do I need to see results?

This varies from person to person, but some of our clients had results after just one session. Most people will see results after 6 sessions.

Does the hair grow back after 6 sessions?

Laser hair reduction sessions do not guarantee that 100% of the hair will stop growing so taking another 6 sessions eventually is recommended as well as an yearly maintanance session. However, it does help significantly reduce the quantity of hair that grows and helps prevent ingrown hair problems as well.

Does it hurt?

The laser hair reduction treatment is generally pain free but people with a low pain threshold may feel some tingling on the skin as well as a heat sensation. The pain also depends on how much hair is being removed at once, you may feel a rubber band snapping sensation on some hair. Many customers say it hurts less than hot waxing. Your therapist will adjust the equipment intensity to make the treatment as comfortable as possible to you.

What do I need to do and watch out after my laser treatment?

Use sunscreen between sessions and a few weeks after. Avoid very hot showers and putting perfume or deodorant directly on the treated skin.

Is laser hair removal for me?

Laser hair reduction can be done on both men and women who want to remove unwanted hair. Most body and face areas can be treated with this method such as underarms, legs, bikini zones, belly, lip, chin, face, neck, buttocks, tights, neck, chest, arms. Aesthetic laser works best on pale skin combined with dark hair as it targets the dark hair pigment, but new-generation machines are being developed regularly making it possible to treat other skin types as well. Your therapist needs to use the right machine for your skin type and hair colour.

What type of hair is best to be removed?

Coarse, dark hair responds more effectively to laser hair removal. Thin and light hair absorbs less heat and is less likely to have the follicle destroyed by the laser.

How long does my session last?

It depends on the areas being treated, small areas like underarms will take only a few minutes to treat but if you want to treat the legs and bikini area for example it may take between 1 and 2 hours per session to be able to cover everything.

What is the difference between laser and IPL?

IPL devices are generally cheaper than laser devices. True hair removal lasers achieve better and faster results than cheap IPL machines. IPL may take a lot of sessions to deliver results. This is why at SpaClinique we never use cheap IPL equipment and only medical and aesthetic laser machines. We want our customers to get real results fast as we know how busy you are and value your time. We only work with the best and most advanced new-generation medical laser hair removal technologies and our therapists are certified laser aestheticians.

How much should I pay for this type of hair reduction procedures?

Be careful with places that offer very cheap laser sessions. Usually this is because they are not using the best type of machine or the most effective one and it may take a lot of sessions to get your hair reduced and removed. Make sure you go to a credible aesthetician that only uses the best machines available on the market.
